One of the top fanciers in Eastern parts of Holland is the father and son partnership Bertus (66) & Albert (30) Roording. Their supreme ‘Grey Empire’ is probably one of the most complete inbred colonies to ‘Silver Shadow’, the Van Loon superstar. With 8 grandchildren and more inbreds to this top ace in a breeding loft of 10 pairs, a supreme family of winners!!

In the last two decades of pigeon racing Bertus & Albert Roording won many supreme championships, with a/o:

1st National champion short distance
2nd, 4th, 8th and 9th National acebird
Acebirds in Fed, combine and Amalgamation

After a switch to overnight racing, the modern one day colony ‘Grey Empire’ was formed from 2002 and in the last 3 years Bertus & Albert Roording were amongst the top 5 champions in Long Distance Specialists Club (800 members).

The founding fathers of the ‘Grey Empire’ are ‘Slim Shady’ 1st acebird short distance in combine and ‘Dante’s Eye’ 4x 1st, both grandchildren ‘Silver Shadow’. Other fanciers won up to 1st National with descendants to pigeons of Bertus & Albert Roording
